Maurice, may be a misunderstanding, but that doesnt make sense as the door fittings for the rods are square/diamond shaped , unless the door fittings are of two types ... mystery goes on.

Here's a couple of factory pix of the side curtains. You can see the top snaps on the inside pic.

David,
If you were referring to my email, I can't see any snaps on the top of the door frame in either of your pictures. Also, fastening the top of the curtain to the top of the door frame (which is an immovable part of the roof) doesn't make sense as one would have to unfasten the top of the curtain each time they opened the door. Mike, The openings in the top of the doors in my F8 are round, 1/2" in diameter. Regards, Jim |

Mike,
I didn't doubt for a minute about your sanity! Mac's has a part no. A180620, Side Curtain Rod Socket, shown in their latest catalog. The detail in the drawing of it is insufficient to see whether the socket itself is square or round. I may need to call them on something else and will ask. Will let you know what the answer is. It might be a good idea to document the possible different model/different manufacturers that where available....... they did come in assorted color according to the parts book...... but none in RED

David,
Aah! The detail in your latest picture does clearly show the snaps on the upper door frame! However, because it is an inside-the-cab picture, one cannot tell from it whether there is a separate piece of canvas snapped in place or that this particular side curtain had a top flap that snapped in place there. I still rather doubt this latter possibility because of the awkwardness of having to unsnap the top each time the door was opened. Regards, Jim |

There isn't any separate item you describe ( canvas piece ) , listed in the Chev cab 11/12 parts list . Mike

Mike,
A canvas piece might have been a after-war add on by the civilian owner. However, it does look like it would serve much the same as the piece that goes on the windshield frame, i.e. keep water from "wicking" around the top of the door frame and into the cab. Regards, Jim |
