Default Historic versus normal plates

Hi Terry:

If you are putting Ontario historic plates on your M38A1 Cdn 3 then you only have to have the lights it left the factory with (debates about being seen notwithstanding).

Check the wiring diagram for the M38A1 Cdn 3 to see if it had a licence plate light... my fuzzy memory suspects not.

With historic plates you have some limitations on the use of your vehicle... no daily driving to work, etc. Test drives after repairs- OK- so always have a wrench in your glove box so you can repair something at a moment's notice. Club drives- OK, demonstrating it for a potential buyer- OK. Going for a nice drive on a Sunday afternoon- see repairs, above! Insurance through Tony Lant and the Silver Wheels programme (no relation just a very satisfied customer of many years) is quite cheap.

If you want to put current plates on it it must meet current standards for seatbelts, lighting, etc, etc.

Mike

Default forewarned is forearmed

Mike:

Good point. I found the electrical diagram and there is no licence plate light showing (and I didn't remember one from the old days either).
