Yes the pics were taken on one of my trips to the U K and they would be just a bit over 15 years old, but when you think of it that is not really such a long time ago, just a blink of an eye really, just goes to proove that NOW is always the correct time to save our history, that is really the reason I posted the pics to get people fired up, and restoring instead of just saying one day I will do it,time goes by and rust never sleeps,
Regards, Ron

Hi Ron The carrier that you were not supposed to see is in immaculate shape! If we would only have had the foresight and finances to preserve some more of these items back then but for the most part it was considered junk. I helped my father restore a Hawker Hurricane to flying condition over the past 35 years. It had been purchased for ONLY $50.00CAN after the war by a farmer who wanted the engine coolant. Dad sold the aircraft 2 years ago & was able to retire after flying his dream! Its just amazing how valuable these antiques have become. Cheers Jan Whereatt

this is just sickening me to the core, all those carriers gone to waste ! all those sprockets and tracks (and spares) that could have been saved from the smelters, this thread rates close to the "Abandoned Carrier" thread on the frustration scale what a crying shame.
can anyone tell me why some T16's hav the solid wheels and some have the Spoked ones ala universal carriers ? is this a Mk thing ? Richard |
