Default There's a tell tale bump on that axle.

The truck has the 4WD axle housing fitted, though may have the drive shafts removed? This would not reduce the weight by much compared with a beam axle.

Interesting trip, but I worry about the weight on those 8cwt front springs. The NZ Army rated them as 15cwt and sometimes 1 ton post war, but there is a fair bit of kit listed, together with the 4 person crew. We know the front springs were beefed up on the late production C8A.
