Default Army Service Numbers

Cliff,

Your first number, F91734, was one allocated to 1st Field Company, RCE. The 1st Field Company was a CASF / Active unit.

Your grandfather's number, M41344, was allocated to 13 District Depot, RCE. It was also an Active unit located in Military District 13 (Alberta).

Your grand uncle's number, M477631, was allocated to No 13 Militia Training Centre. It was a Reserve unit also located in MD 13.

All of this information comes from Clive's book 'Regimental Numbers of the Canadian Army' (no date).

Dan.
