It looks to be an 'Army Service Number' (F 91734) issued from Military District No. 6 (Provinces of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island) when the soldier in question joined either the Canadian Active Service Force (2 Sep 39 to 7 Nov 40) or the Canadian Army (Active) (7 Nov 40 to 1 Oct 46). Perhaps Clive (aka servicepubs) will read this and tell us exactly to which unit the block of service numbers containing F91734 was assigned to.
