Default SKIN ?

I always thought the skin on these was doped canvas . Looking at the pics it appears to be some type of thin fabric material over what looks like cardboard or cheap masonite ?
Pity is has been left out in the elements .

I believe the Adelaide ex AWM example has been re-skinned in metal or some non original material .

Hugh Thompsons example is an absolute veteran of many rallies , I first saw it in 76 during the Fort Queenscliff trip . Lot 17 ( as it's known as ) must have clocked up a lot of miles in the last 30 years . He had the engine rebuilt a few years back and it has attended Corowa quite a few times . Hugh bought it back in the early 1960's at a Govt. auction ( lot 17 ) . It would have to be a record ? The longest time anyone has owned a ex WW2 Ambulance that is still on the road ?

The CMF here ( army reserve ) still had these in service as late as 1960 .

Mike
