I have seen some of it . Farmers used it . I once spotted some along a fence . One reason it's so scarce is: after the war scrappies went up to the islands and removed litterally tons of it . In the Solomons , all of the well engineered wartime bridges were torn down by scrappies and sold , instead of leaving them in situ for the locals to use . A friend of mine in his collection has a catalogue printed by a company around 1947 , a sale of items on offer on a island near New Guinea . This mob had bought the whole islands WW2 surplus , airfields , the lot . They even chartered a ship and took potential buyers up to look over the goodies
