Tony, when I want to clean up a bunch of old bolts I throw them in a large kitchen type screen strainer and hit them with the sandblaster. Keep shaking them up and sandblasting for a while and they come out bright and shiny. Doesn't seem to bother the threads either.

Great suggestion & interesting how it doesnt affect the threads. My problem is access to a sandblaster and a suitable area to blast (meaning somewhere where you can either make a great big mess or suitable stuff to retrieve the sand/shot). I am having a blast however.
