this is just sickening me to the core, all those carriers gone to waste ! all those sprockets and tracks (and spares) that could have been saved from the smelters, this thread rates close to the "Abandoned Carrier" thread on the frustration scale what a crying shame.

can anyone tell me why some T16's hav the solid wheels and some have the Spoked ones ala universal carriers ? is this a Mk thing ?

Richard

Talking pounds

Most of the carriers in pounds yard were saved. Many of them have now been rebuilt.
I had heard rummers about a universal in a shed at Pounds, so it was ture.
but this was sold on.
Who to ?

I can't read the numbers on the sides, can you read them on the original photos?
As I am sure the present owners would love copys.

I think the original T16 had spoke wheels and those built after 1945 had solid. I think it was just a costing thing and as the T16 is heavier than a Universal there was less chance of broken spokes

Default Somewhere in time

Hello Pablo, I checked my passport and the date I was there was September 1988, the place Portsmouth England, it really was fantastic to see all of the armour and all in one place and up for grabs if you had the money, I was made very welcome whilst I was there, I did mention on the armour forum that whilst I was there one day two Russian tanks arrived so Tony closed the gates the tanks were unloaded and they were given a good workout around the yard, those were the days, I will post Pics of the Russian tanks arrival on the armour forum, they were uncut fully opperational every thing in working order staight from the docks, the crew helmits still hanging inside,
Thanks for your interest Regards Ron
