Alastair,
Looking a the British universal carrier manual, the outer spring on front bogie is as above, TL332, the standards are quoted as follows;
"if the springs are badly rusted or reduced in length by more than 1/16" below the following standard, they should be renewed.
Front outer spring 10 1/2 coils , 10.22 to 10.44 inches long"
