CMP C8 HUP Advise

I'm parting with my Hotchkiss m201 and am going to see a C8 HUP to buy, I hope, as a more thoroughbred replacement. I know nothing about CMP's other than the early Chevy engine used a splash & hope lube system, which sounds a bit dubious. Any fatherly advise on what weaknesses to look out for would be much appreciated. I already own a 1943 Morris Commercial C4 GS, which is a grand old lady and has involved a fair bit of restoration.
