Can anyone identify this ramrod style? They come in 5' units: brass fittings with wood dowels. Just under 1-5/8" diameter. Various dates 1945 and 1944. Likely British or Canadian. They join with a tongue and slot. Marked CM 588, and sometimes a manufacturer marking SAF 8 Co. The eight may be a stylized "&".

You wouldn't have any like this would you Brian? 1 7/8" diameter, 1 1/2" NC thread 46 1/2" long shoulder to shoulder. I'd be happy with just the ends, I need 5 female and 4 male.

Rob; Thanks for quick answer. Sounds easy but I have never seen them any of my manuals and I've shown them to various people over the years but drew little more than a blank stare or a passing yawn.
Adrian: Sorry never had any threaded style rods. |

Hi Brian,
Last year I bought a couple of these here in the Netherlands. The part numbers are the same as listed in the 1942 6pdr parts list but the stave ends are dated 1971! Must have been a good design. Cheers,

I was browsing my Centurion I, II and III User Handbook circa 1952 and they show up as part of 17-PR Gun spares: Staves, end, No.72, Mk.I and staves, intermediate, No.2, Mk.I. ......... Brian
