G`day to all
A brief introduction : Iam restoring a couple of carriers and also have a jeep and a blitz waiting in line. My interest in M.Vs started at a young age as my father had a large collection of vehicles which consisted of: a stuart, half track, numerous versions of the carrier, white scout cars, 12 and 13 cab blitz's, jeeps, and stude's. In the mid to late 80s he sold the whole collection most of them to a wholesaler in victoria, iam now trying to locate the vehicles to find out if they are DEAD or ALIVE. Having some succsess iam still coming up to brick walls, so i am turning to the people in M.L.U land for assistance. The one i am keen on finding is an English carrier whith the number T33474 (see in attached photo) so if anyone can shed some light and may know of its whereabouts i would be greatly appreciated i did here a small rumour that it went to the U.K. but not confirmed

regards: Fletch.

Fletch, try contacting Nigel Watson (he is on here too) he has a list of most the carriers that are working or under restoration within the UK.

i only know of a few carrier owners in the UK

Kevin Powles (Collector)

Nick Bullock (CMP and Carrier collector)

Barry Read (collector)

Shaun Hindle (Tramps in Armour / East England Military Museum)

Nigel Watson (author of the carrier books, www.universalcarrierbook.co.uk)

sorry if i have missed anyone.... however all the above people are on this forum

Richard

Hi Bob
thanks for the welcome, yes i recieved your Email thank you, sorry for not getting back to you, got side tracked with the M.L.U sites. As for the number on my MORTAR CARRIER i am not sure the only number i can find is 123 which i assume would be 6123 if it is the correct number. I will be getting stuck in to it again soon, so i will post some photos of both my carriers on M.L.U. As to your other question no i am not related to captain Gordon Fletcher as far as i know

FLETCH....

Hello and welcome Fletch.
If my memory serves me corectly, some years ago you and your father called into my old home at Mudgeeraba to pick up an engine that I had for an English carrier that I had given him, and a couple of weeksa later you both returned and bouight a pair of front mudguards and headlights for one of my carriers, I remember him well it was then, and still is unusual to find a person so honest and genuine
Once again welcome to the forum,
Regards Ron

Hi Ron
Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the nice comment about the old fella, i guess in that part i am trying to be a chip off the old block.Did you also help out with a coupling from the gearbox to diff for the English carrier, i remember he made a quick over night dash up there to get it ?. As you can see from the photo the old girl turned out ok. The old fella got the bug for MVs again when i bought my first one but unfortunately he has lost interest again and his collection of trucks are now up for sale. Thanks again Ron and hope to keep in contact
regards: FLETCH.

G'day Fletch,
Am I right in saying that your father is Alan?
His White Scoutcars are still around and I have a pair of front guards in my shed from him. He's a nice bloke. Saw him at Corowa last year, (or the year before, can't remember.)

Any way welcome to the forum and good luck with your quest.
Rick.

Default Fletch

Hi Fletch,
Its been quite some time since I last saw your father at my place I am afraid I dont remember all the parts that I helped with on that day besides the engine but I had a lot of English carrier parts in those days, at about that time I also had a few transfer cases for the 2 Pdr and morter carrier but they are long gone now,in those days no one seemed interested in them, anyway keep in touch, and it would be nice to see some of your carrier pics, and to watch your progress,
Regards Ron

Default Transfer case

Hi Fletch,
Its a small wprld I was talking to a friend only the other day and told him of the transfers cases that I once had, I remember removing the conection from the transfer case to the gear box on one of them and this one was pulled apart to achieve this, I guess this maybe the one that Alan got along with the engine and English carrier parts, that you now have, look forward to your pics when you get the time,if you are ever up this way call in,
Regards Ron

Hi RON
Here are some photos of my carriers. The LP 2 came from John Bellfields graveyard in melbourne it sat there for 30 years, and for 28 of them it was uncovered so you can imagine the condition of the internals and the floor VERY BAD. Its still not restored but it is usuable and even drove it in a parade with 30 other M.Vs including two other carriers, what an awsome day that was. The Mortar Carrier came from the ALBURY region and was just a bare hull with large holes cut in the floor and bulkhead, ill post updates as they come.
Regards: FLETCH.

Hi Fletch,
Great photos, very interesting, it seems that all of the carriers have now gone from Johns back paddock, at least they will be saved now, for future generations to enjoy.I will look forward to progress pics of your mortor carrier

It looks like a 2pdr Tank Attack Carrier.

Hi Ron

It sounds like i have jumped the gun a little bit in calling it a MORTAR CARRIER, i call it that because i know what the end resault is going to be. With heading down a different path to what Colin Jones did it is getting the MORTAR CARRIER makeover with a similar outcome, ill keep you posted.
Regards FLETCH.
