If you run it fast enough you will get about 30 volts out of it.
I have had all my vehicles (jeeps, Dodges and Chevs) using the old generator with another regulator. The Dodge I took to Normandy even used the original regulator "tweaked" but it was a bit tired and the points kept sticking so I just put a $5 Delco from an old Holden on and it worked fine.
A lot of people of course just get an internally regulated alternator and create a trouble free, high capacity charging system with half an hours work but it doesn't look right if you are fussy.
