Default Wanted: Tracked vehicle

Hi guys,
I'm putting the feelers out.
Does anybody have or can put me in touch with someone who has, an armoured vehicle for sale? Preferrably tracked, WW2 era and in Australia.

Can be a Bren Gun Carrier or M3 Stuart as their weight is not excessive. Would also consider M3 Grant or a Matilda. Does not have to be complete and running.

A wheeled Dingo Armoured Car would also be considered, being built in geelong and at Ford where I work.

Not after top notch restored vehicle as I would like to keep the budget within limits.

Genuine inquiry. Will be in a position to buy from September 2010 on.

Regards
Ryan

Default panzer 2 mock up

Hi John, thanks for the heads up.
Here's a direct link.

I spoke to the chap and he is after $50k. For that kind of money I would rather have a real vehicle.

Looks like it would be a lot of fun though.

Does anybody have a copy of the October 2010 edition of Just 4x4 magazine? Aparently there was an advert for a Bren gun carrier for sale in Victoria. I bought the Nov 2010 but it is not in there.

"Srike me pink Ryan" Lets not start at the bottom, lets get a big arse tank. No half measures there. Now don't forget to post lost and lots of pics.
Good luck and well done. Has it got the original drive train.
Colin.

Default grant tank

Hi Colin,
I was 50/50 before I got to see and hear it in the flesh and take it for a ride. It was hard to get the smile off my face. The original motor is long gone but in it's place is a 15.2lt v8 MAN diesel with 300hp. When I get it home I'll post pics.
Hi Graeme,
Yes I've seen that gearbox, getting it home has me perplexed though.

Default Getting it back

Colin you just need it to rain in WA and you can probably float it back in your rubber ducky.

Hi Richard, no it's a grant tub. A sherman mock up is not impossible though, but I'll stick to sourcing a grant hull somewhere. Guns and turrets are another thing though! They may have to be mock ups.

Thanks Tim for looking, hope you have one. Would prefer an Australian issued manual over a USA Tech manual.

Ryan,

Congrats on the buy! Here's my suggestion for a restoration. Join my G104 mailing list at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/G104/ to find more info and parts.

Hanno

Cheers Hanno for the links and hints.
The aussies even made an ARV during the war but I think that retained the turret...hmm..or was it based on a M3 Lee..don't know, I'll have to check my books.
Searched for M3 grant on your mailing list and it came up with an interesting posting history, I'll have to remember it, thank you.
