Pick and Helve
 Gentlemen: I have a pick and helve that I would like to mount on the GS box of my Cab 13. Does any one have photos of how they're attached or even have the brackets to hold them. The same would be with the shovel handle on the opposite side. Appreciate your time......Robert

As far as I know, pioneering tools were not stowed in racks on the outside (like on all US vehicles)?

There were some....
..... not sure in what theatre of operations but I have seen pictures of cab 13 with a pick and shovel mounted vertical behind the driver's side.....somewhat similar to the mounts on the back of a HUP.
They may have been field modifications.....can't remember seeing anything in original factory pictures or service bulletins. Bob

I looked through my large collection of photos and found nothing showing on British or Canadian CMP's but found the photo below which shows an Australian #1 wooden GS body with tools mounted on the Left (Passenger) side which may help. USA vehicles are the only one's that seemed to have a pioneer tool rack fitted in various positions on the exterior of the vehicle.

Thanks for the input....
I was starting to wonder if anybody was left out there! Thanks guys for the comments. Like Bob, I've seen the pick and helve mounted behind the driver, on the front of the box. Don't ask me where I saw it!!. The shovel on the opposite side, has a bracket to hold the blade. This is welded on the end of the box that contains the POW cans. But there is no way to attach the handle.
As per your comments, it may be a field addition or it may have been in the stowage boxes. I kinda like the look of it on the box, as Bob commented on the HUP. So my question maybe should be....what do the brackets look like on the back of a HUP? I have a HUP.....it's just not here yet (THIS SUMMER FOR SURE!!) We'll hopefully come up with an answer.
