Seabee "SLUG"
Just when I'm about sure I don't know it all, something comes along to confirm that idea. Case in point, the Sherman Slug mine flail. There is virtually no info regarding this rare flail that was built by the USN Seabees for use by the USMC in the Pacific. It may be a one off, or there may have beem several built, I don't know. It's an interesting design which differs from the more common flail types by having shorter lengths of chain attached to short arms projecting from the drum. The text accompanying the pic suggests a magnetic field was developed to detonate magnetic mines. I don't know if this was common to all revolving drum flails or particular to the Slug.
CHIMO! Derek.
