CMP Cab 12 interior

Hi there

Still plugging away on the 1/35th scale Chev 2-pounder portee.

I'm using cab parts of the Tamiya Ford Gun Tractor but the more I study photos and plans, the more I find wrong with the kit.

Still, I'm to the point where cab interior needs completing and I have a few questions:

Are the trottle, brake and clutch pedals in the same order as is 'normal' now or are they arranged differently? I"ve also heard the Chevs had a 'peg' for the throttle rather than a pedal.

Any ideals why the engine cover is so oddly shaped?

On a Chev Cab 12, was the battery in the cab or on the running board.

The Chev Portee had a false floor which was raised off the cab floor by about 4 1/2inches. The driver's side had a standard CMP seat centred behind the wheel, and the LH side had a wide bench seat that ran from the outer side of the cab to the inner edge of the raised floor. Some Portee's have no rear seat cushion for the passenger, some have. The angle iron frame for the side and back of the cab is folded down around the LH bench seat, presumably so as to not dig into the back where no rear seat cushion was provided.
The battery box was on the RH (driver's) step.
The engine cover is probably different from the Tamiya kit because that represents a Ford cab 12 with a different shaped engine, although there some detail errors in the Tamiya kit.

The throttle pedal is a flat pedal similar later cab 13 pedals. You can't see it clearly in this pic, but it should be in the bottom left quadrant of the steering wheel running up from the floor mat and finishing on the stop nut plainly visible in the pic.

What was the engine work and did you pull the engine up through the cab or out the front? I am missing the right engine cover on my Pattern 12 could you post pictures of the side covers as well?

Max Hedges has a C60L cab 12 with almost intact side covers...



Perhaps if you ask Emma nicely she'll take some digital pics for you.

Thanks Keith the picture is a big help, followed the link to look at the pictures of Max's Pattern 12 looks like a C60L I say C60 because of the helper springs in the rear. Do my eyes mislead me or does the truck have 16" rims in front and 20" on the rear.

Just started reassembling the Cab to start fitting the new steel. Including all new floor plates.

And yes, Max could you ask Emma if she would take some photos of the right side of the motor dog house?

Yes, it is a C60L and yes, those are probably 16" rims put on it to move it.

OK, Emma, time to pud the frying pan down and take up the camera..
