Default Oh, God, look, the sun, the grass......

Tipping over the November edge into a Canadian winter, and we have to look at that.

Default Attach .wav file

You can't attach sound bites to posts, so here's a transcript of what's recorded on the mike:

Yeeehah! Hee hee hee, yeah. Woohoo, oh boy oh boy. Man, this is fun, wowee!

(Background noises of deep rumbling aircraft engine roaring away)

That's about right, Tony... only the engine sound was more a putter putter - it was a Tiger Moth, but what fun!

Here's another one looking further back - the Tiger Moth is being flown by Kenny Love, the museum's chief executive.
The wheat is ripening, the days balmy, come visit Australia... adopted home of the CMP.

Default Tiger Moth

The Tiger Moth would have to be the Airborne equivalent of the CMP truck, wouldn't it? Produced in their thousands, used by every Commonwealth nation, slow and "No Frills", yet loved and recognised instantly.
Through the Empire Air Training Scheme, the Tiger Moth was absolutely essential to the War Effort and gave trainee Pilots from throughout the Commonwealth a shared experience in the same way MT drivers from the Commonwealth armies shared driving the CMP.
The Tiger Moth is possibly the most widely flown "Warbird" today and as recently as last weekend (1-2 Nov) there was an air race by 40 Tiger Moths from Maitland in NSW to Sydney. The winner was the user of the least fuel, not the fastest time.
Now, 40 Tiger Moths flying together, is that another record for postwar de-mobbed aircraft?

Was Keefy secretly filming "Year of the Tiger Moth"?

If only, Tony!
This particular Tiger is interesting in that it actually served at Temora during the war when the airstrip was the base for number 10 Elementary Flying Training School. It is the oldest Tiger Moth flying in Australia.
