Default McLaughlin Buick

A friend of mine bought a wartime McLaughlin Buick , and has the restauration finished. But he is wondering if there should be any markings on it ?
The vehicle is right hand drive , and after the war was sold on to the private market , in this process , the car was sanded down , and given a Shiny brown color , so therefore no markings to be discovered .
Would these vehicles be used in the military , or in the government role ? There was some olive drab paint remains left under the bonnet .

Any help is appreciated
