WS Earthing pin ID
Hi everyone
I recently picked up a number of WS Earthing pins. Amongst them was the pin on the right side. All the rest were identical to the other 2. Does anyone have any idea as to what the right side pin was for. And before anyone asks none are for sale. Sorry

Thanks
I guess I will hold onto it then and begin looking for another 9. Its my quest to get everthing ever produced. One more question. What colour should these be in for WW2 use. As with everything else they have been painted in 1950's glossy green.

I had a look at mine and they were all glossy dark green. They came with all the other bits (guys, hammer, spike mount, etc) in the Bag,Aerial Gear,C1 which is for the 19 set. Actually most of the paint is worn off through decades of use but the dark green can still be seen. I wonder if RCEME would have repainted this kind of item at any time? It almost looks like Larkspur green.

Earthing pins and WS 19 set Aerial bag
Hi All,
I picked up one of the earthing pins at our local gun show last spring and it was a 1950's type semi gloss green paint on it.I paid $3.00 for it.I cannot find any markings on it. This year at an antique sale, one of our local militaria dealers had 3 in his case for sale and I bought all 3 ( I need 10 more!) for $25.00ea.More expensive but you rarely see them for sale so have to buy them when they are there.2 pins are marked MCA 1942 and C broadarrow marked. The 3rd pin just has a C broadarrow on it.Does anybody know what MCA stands for? Thanks to this thread I now know what the 2 plain pins are for I have had for a few years now to the right of the earthing pins.I guess I will be looking for 8 more! A person can't turn one down on a lathe as these are cast. I was also wondering if anybody had a check list for the contents of the Aerial bag? Thanks,Derk.

Check out this thread. It shows what goes in the bag. My pegs are silver coloured wit the bigger part at the end painted green.

Thanks to Bruce as well.
I have two of the antenna pegs and also just found out what they are for - it pays to never throw anything away! One has the remains of black paint on it with bare metal underneath and the second one has the remains of a glossy dark green with remnants of black under that. No idea when they were manufactured but black looks to be the base colour. |
