Default 17pdr Sexton

Seeing as the 17pdr was mounted Ad Hoc on a 25pdr mounting.
Would fitting a 17pdr in Sexton be possible? if so do you a war role for such vehicle?

ramtank2, welcome to this forum! We are used to using real names here, so could you please introduce yourself?

Re. your question, see 17-pdr Sexton / 3 inch Ram SP.

Hope this helps,
Hanno

Default 17 Pdr Sexton

It probably was feasible. Paper studies were carried out in late 1942/ early 1943 on fitting either a 17pdr or 3.7 inch AA gun to what was then called the 25-pounder Ram SP for use as a tank destroyer. The idea unfortunately died for lack of interest.

The history of the project will be found in my forthcoming "Secret Weapons of the Canadian Army" (www.servicepub.ca).
