Default Wanted, some instruments for a cab 13

Hey all.
My first CMP and I'd like to get started gathering items I need. As you can see from this photo, some of the instruments are broken and some are missing;

So I'd need a list of what's missing, and, hopefully, someone who has a few extras to sell.
If anyone has a diagram or a close up photo of the instrument panel from a cab 13 1944 Chevy CMP, I would appreciate that as well.

Default Original instrument

Looks like the only original one you have is the temp, so apart from the speedo you'll need oil pressure, ammeter and fuel.

The round gauges are the same as most of the later US trucks used so you should be able to find some on some of the US sites.

And those "US sites" would be... what exactly?
Sorry but I am VERY new to this and have NO idea where to look. Or what to look for come to think of it.

Hi Pedro
The first thing I would do is buy a repair manual and a parts manual. Brian Asbury and Grant Bowker, both on this site, have excellent reproductions. Above all don't get discouraged as this restoration will take considerable time. You are starting off the job in the right way by stripping the truck of the non CMP gear. I would then do an evaluation of what you have and what you need. Remember you have been continually perusing those manuals while occupying the white throne. Change all the fluids and try to get it moving to assess the drive train but be careful there are probably no brakes. The other guys in the west are great and some may be close to you. They can give you invaluable assistance. Again Brian Asbury (Ontario) has parts and someone will give you his phone number or I can get it for you. Dirk Leegwater in the Netherlands also has tons of stuff. Just Google LWD parts.
Good luck and be patient.
Barry

I'd love to!
Um, how DO I get a hold of them? There is no search function for User names on this forum. Or, if there is, it's VERY well hidden...

Hit Search in the top bar, then Advanced Search. You can type in the username (Brian's is 'BCA') then click on the name for contact details. Either Brian or Grant will be able to help you.

Pedro..
Great advice from jif and here is some more..Some of the best restoration guys in the world on Rusty Old Trucks..green of course, are right down the road from you..
Contact them and see if you can visit them and get some experience on what you are doing..They would be glad to get a hand or just a visit..bring beer and they would probably keep you as a pet..
Just off the top of my head I think of Rob Fast..Rob Love..Derk Derkin..all Manitoba CMP collectors and restorers..
and all members here on MLU forum and you can contact them by personal message and ask for help and ask to meet them or visit them..
Jeez..Manitoba has such few people, visitors are treated like royalty..They even like traveling sales men..even if they have daughters..
That is where all the traveling salesmen/farmers daughters jokes started..
I'm sure you will be well received..

Here is a partial list of manuals that Grant has..and probably Brian too..
You will find your vehicle maintenance manual and parts manual here..
I recommend the MB-C2 maintenance manual for Chevs and the MB-F1 maintenance manual for Fords..
Read them cover to cover and then start on your truck..you can wreck more or even injust your self by not knowing some of the info on these vehicles..especially the wheels and tires..Run flats hold air and you can kill your self by not knowing how to take these wheels apart or service them..
Good luck

Default CMP guages

I used a mechanical set from Princess Auto, they sell a 3 gauge set, oil, temp and ammeter under $30 for all 3. I taped the glass and gave them a light bead blast to roughen the chrome, etching primer and finally OD green.

The temp gauge had the longer line @72" which is needed in a CMP cab 13.
The other advantage is you can light up the gauges on your dash as they all come with a built in light option. Just tie in to tour dash lite circuit, if you do any night driving its easy to see how your engines vital signs are doing.

As far as the speed o goes, the standard M series speed o works, but may not have the trip odometer but drops in easy, Ebay, type in M37 or M38 or M35, there are usually lots available $40-100.

As far as the 2 big holes go they are standard Jeep WW2 style, lots of NOS available $20 #30 for the pair.

Your CMP looks to be in good condition judging by the picture, send some more!

Walde
