Default MAPLE-Cars

Hello Canadiens;

I see quiet frequent personal cars with a maple-leafe as a manufacturer's sign and the manufacturer's name "MAPLE" at the back....

...the design looks really similar than DAEWOO; what is this?

A before I forget: The cars are running in Libya.

Hi Kuno:
It is a Shanghai Maple car made in China. If you google that name, you can get more details.
Here is a photo of the R80 model.

just goes to show that even national symbols like the maple leaf are not safe from manufacterers in other countries.

Hi Mate:
Not to put too fine a point on it, as the Chinese have little regard for "Intellectual Property" of any kind, but there is such a thing as a Chinese Maple and it is quite famous worldwide as a decorative tree.
I have one in my back yard as a matter of fact that was a present to Pat on her 65th birthday. Beautiful tree!!

Hi Bill I knew there was a Japanese maple and it is a beautiful tree but I did not know there was a Chinese one as well. The thing I miss living in Queensland is the Autumn colors of the diciduous trees like the Maples and english Oak trees.

Thanks for all the information.

Meanwhile I saw a 4x4-car of the brand "Land-Mark", the same sign as "Land-Rover" used it once but only one word replaced.

Who wants to accuse the Chinese for their copying - it is us who brought them the technology, trained them and thought they will manufacture cheap cars which the "foreign" companies wanted to sell for good money in Europe etc....

...and finally; if none of us would buy those cars they would not be seen on our roads
