what radio is this
Hello
What radio was installed in the Canadian Bantam 4x4 pilot? I do know that it was not a no.19 set. Thanks Eric

Wireless Set No.1. Strangely enough it's the radio I did last week for week 35.

The aerial is the type used with the 11 set and being made in 1940 it couldn't have been newer than the 11 set. It kind of looks like the sender unit of a No. 9 set.

I'm fairly sure that's a W.S. 1 (British), the shiny disc is the original nickel plated brass watch holder, to the right are two headphone sockets with plugs in, above that is the Reaction control knob and aerial terminal in the top right hand corner. It's in some sort of carrier, and the aerial lead (probably the earth, too) come out through the right hand side to the aerial base. Chris. |

I blew it up more and took a closer look and it does look like a No 1 set.

Hello Bruce
I read your article but wanted to confirm things. I have attached a photo of what I think it is based on looks and a better quality photo once enlarged. Same as one of the others but too big to download. Thanks for the info. Eric

Well, that's a Wireless Set No.1 all right.
Description is just below the watch holder and between the two hinges: Wireless Set No.1 Ser. No. 569 (I think) M.W.T.C. Ltd (Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company Limited) 1938 /|\ So British manufactured. Chris. |
