Default What's with Australia Post???

Hey, you Aussies, what's with Australia Post?

TWO different sized books I have sent from the USA to Australia - one to Wang in Victoria in July, and the other to Sydney in October - get as far as the Sydney International Mail Exchange and VANISH! Both were correctly addressed, had customs forms, and so on ....

Do mail employees have a thriving book shop somewhere or what??

Boy, is it frustrating ..... and it is getting expensive!

Mike

Mike, I posted a carrier book (one of Nigel Watson's) to one of the chaps in south Australia (not sure where)
Anyhow it was lost for about 4 months. Then it turned up at the receivers local post office. Because I'd made a claim (reported it missing) Instead of delivering it, they sent it back to me, refunded the post, and then I had to post it again.
At least it arrived in the end. It was to a fellow forum member.
Good luck!

Australia Post like many businesses here is in difficulties. Their problems stem from a number of sources including competition from the electronic media and high overheads not the least of which is the enormous remuneration packages to the fat cats at the top. As usual they are at the same time doing their best to screw the employees and get rid of as many as they can. As a result of all this morale and productivity plummet just when they are needed most.
I would also be curious to know the economics of the parcel service whereby so much more is coming in due to offshore internet purchases than the trickle going out. If the shipping is paid for in another country how do Australia Post recoup their costs?
Sad to say but the bottom line is it's just another example of how things were done better in the past.

David

Mike, What I should have said, is that "I as the person posting the item, had to instigate the claim proceedings"
