Default Carrier Stencil Markings

Starting a thread on ORIGINAL stenciled markings for stowage. I have added a few to start the ball rolling. Duplicates welcome as well as comments and opinions. Lets get these posted forever for all to see before they fade away or get blasted and painted over. Now....Who has a commercial stencil cutter???

Thanks, Harris

Wow what a good tread idea "H".

here are the markings from thebins on puddle jumper. when i first restored her 11 years ago there were lots of stencils on the hull, i dont have photos of them but i did write the wroding down, the size and style being the same as those in the stowage bins.

As it happens, I have a commercial stencil cutting machine on permanent loan to me. I have tried to buy it but have not been successful.

It resides under the fax machine counter in my office.

I think it does 1" or 1/2" size, will look at it again today.

It was an object of whose value I saw immediately and hence the reason I have it.

I will gladly make up stencils for anyone who wants them for the cost of the postage and a consideration for my time if i'm making tons of wordage.

We use it for the MVs in the collection and for general neat marking of things. I use file folder card material which if treated carefully can get a number of uses out of each one.

I am going into work today and will take a happy snap and check the size.

Robin

Default Stencil cutter

I have an old machine that does one size. It is an american machine and it punches 1" high letters in a card.

Default Puddle Jumper Stencils

Shaun, Thanks for the posting of your pics. Can you give us a description of the markings you have written down as to What was stenciled, and Where was the stencil was located. This is all good info for the detailed restorer.
Thanks,
Harris

OK , These are off my Mk 2 No 2* they are all 1/2 inch stencil .

The first one is on the outside of the rear armour between the bren tripod clamps.

BREN TRIPOD
WATER PROOF COVER

The second is just above the center weapons bracket on the side armour (inside of course)

BREN M.G OR SERVICE RIFLE
OR THOMPSON S.M.G.

These the only markings i could make out. But dont forget the re was also "SLING HERE" near the fron lifting eyes - not sure if it was stenciled near the lifting eyes in the rear .

Just a reminder that I have, for anyone who missed it, a 1/2" stencil cutting machine and will gladly make stencils up for anyone who asks.
