Default Camp Ipperwash

This Camp, used by the Canadian Army and Canadian Forces from 1942 until c. 1994, housed a battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment during off summer months. During the summers, it was home to some 1800 army cadets.

An estimate was made that, over the years, some 85000+ cadets attended.

I'm going to try my first pic post. It's from "My Webs" (in "My Documents"...Win XP), therefore I "should" be able to insert it here.

Stand by...

Damn...I was only given the option of sending to an e-mail recipient.

Anyway, I have several pics of the camp and also some of the "strips" which were 15 cwt CMPs stripped down to the bare chassis, and used a training aids.

Well, I tried...sorry.

Jon,

Can you email me the photos and I'll post them for you? I'll resize if needed to fit MLU max size.

OK, Sinc...I just sent you a bunch of Ipperwash pics, a couple of which will tickle Mark's fancy, and a couple which should tickle CMP type guys fancy.

(I gotta learn how to scan and insert to a post!)

Hi Jon,

I don't know how to scan things, but uploading a photo from your harddrive or a disk is fairly simple. When scanning I guess you save to harddrive or CD or disk ... then upload that file??? (I'm only guessing : )

If you need lessons/trouble-shooting, maybe one of us MLU-ers can tell you how via email or phone ... or even in this thread, then others learn "how to" as well?

Perhaps it's also time for us to come up there, verra soon, and teach you how to be a computer-literate being? THAT is a possibility too!

Hi people,

Can you please tell me how many photos you see posted by me? (excluding the one Mark re-posted)

There should be 6 photos I posted.

Thanks,

Karmen

Know what, Clive...I'm embarassed!

I pulled those pics from the RCAC site which you mentioned above, fully intending to give due credit, then I got all caught up in fumbling inability to post them, and to give such credit.

Mea culpa...the Ipperwash pics were courtesy of the link shown in Clive's (servicepub) post.

Sorry.

Mark: WRT Mess halls...IIRC, there were 3 at Ipperwash, viz,

Trocadero, Ritz, Savoy...Yes/No?

Seems to me that there were 2 Mess halls on one side of the parade square, and only one on the other side.

Looking at the map in this page of the Forum, it doesn't look like there were two Messes on the left of the square????

Any thoughts, recollections?

:

BTW, where was your bed space...which "H" hut?

Hey, what happened to Mark Tonner's reply, with red circles and identification of various facilities?

Default CMP training aid Still exists?

Just wanted to attach this pic I took last year of a cut down CMP used in training taken in 2004. Looks to be the same one as in this thread looking at the tires and a few other similarities.
