Default Camp X May 28-29 May 2005

After talking to a few people from this forum that explained that the last weekend in May would be a better time to hold the annual event at the site of Camp X, I convinced the Camp X Historical Society to hold it a bit earlier next year. I hope we can get a few Vechs down for the event. Heres the chance to tell the public about your stuff. Last year we had over 3000 people go through our displays. We would like to have anyone that has Military Vechs come down to our event, and talk to the public. In the US I have been involved in this sort of thing and have had a lot of support from re-enacters and Vech owners.
If you are interested in coming to this event please email me for more info. The Canadian Forces are providing tents, generaters ect for the event. Some of us will be there from Friday Morning on, We may have classes of school children coming down on the Friday. We also have a camp fire on Friday and Saturday nights and maybe a couple of pints. We are trying to save the last bits of this important training area from being built over. If you have the time and want to save Canadian Military History please contact me.

Default Still Looking....

As Dean posted in October, we are having the event May 27-29. Confirmed details of the event should be ready next week, but I just wanted to post a msg to let you know that we are still looking for vehicle owners to come to the event and display there vehicles. We have secured one vehicle already for the weekend, but we would like to see more on display. So if your interested, please contact me at: matthew.rutledge@gmail.com and I will provide you with full details.

Talk soon.

It sounds like piles of fun.

Is anyone else up for a trip to Oshawa?

And yes - if any one else is interested in a trip up to oshawa/whitby for this event, I will promise you it will be a blast. We are in the planning process right now, but by saturday (January 29th) evening I should have all the details posted (ie. dates, times, whats happening on site all weekend, special events, etc). I am very interested in having as many vehicles up here as possible. Please contact me if your interested.

The 29th is a sunday. So, if your assumption is correct, we would still be more then welcome to have vehicle owners on site on the saturday. Something is better then nothing. Let me know if your assumption is correct. and if any one is interested in coming out for the weekend to show your vehicle, email me.

Thanks

Default OMVA/Ferret Club/Camp X

The OMVA's summer show and flea market will indeed be held at the Oshawa airport site of the Oshawa Industrial and Military Museum (our swap meet is actually held each Feb.) on Saturday May 28 only. A one day show this year. Discussions are on-going with Oshawa about on-site overnight camping for the Friday and Saturday nights. Will post as soon as a decision has been made.

I have raised the issue of your event with both the Ferret Club of Oshawa and with the OMVA executive to see if an official "convoy" might be organized to the Camp X site which is located approx 4 miles from the Oshawa Museum. Insurance issues are still being looked at. Again, will post further as I hear.

Even if not an official event then I am sure that many of our MV owners will still happily "dropby" for a visit to show off their vehicles. We will publish a notice in our next issue of CMP magazine to give our members time to plan ahead.

Default Thank you from Camp X

I would like to Thank those that were able to make it to our Camp X event at the original site. Stewart and his T-16 were the hit of the show..I saw him do a lot of talking..hope he had a good time. The Police escort fell through..this, we found out, was do to an occurance that happened in Oshawa shortly before thry were to arrive..this tied up all the "extra" Police. I didn't know the Hummers had arrived until they were leaving ( I run the museum tent and didn't get out much) The Ferrert Club sent down a couple of nice Vechs the next day and the public loved it. One of my high points ( as side from having a ride in Stewarts T-16) was seeing Chris Vickery again..it's been about 10-12 years.
Well this was our first attemp at getting Vechs to the site..I think it was a good start, I hope we can all work together again for next year. The event in 2006 will be the first weekend in June.

Thank you again
