Heading South....
I'll be heading south again this year for a couple of weeks so I thought I'd catch up on my vocabulary and get practiced up...
I thought I would share this with y'all in case anyone else needs to bone up on their ASL(American as a Second Language).. AH-ITE (adverb, adjective, or maybe even an interjection). An affirmation; to be in a state of okay-ness; or a request for someone to stop pestering you. Usage: "How ya doin, Bubba?" "Ah-ite." AHSPOSO (phrase). The affirmative response to "Wongo?" ANHEUSER (phrase). Question pertaining to a parental condition. Often mistaken by Yankees for a brewing company. Usage: "How is yer ma?" "Good." "Anheuser pa?" BLEEVE (verb). To accept as true. BOB WAR (noun). A sharp, twisted cable. Usage: "Boy, stay away from that there bob war fence." CAUTERIZE (phrase). To make eye contact with a female. Usage: "Ju look at that lady?" "Yep ... I cauterize!" DOOTCHER (verb). The command form in Southern. Usage: "Dootcher momma tells ya to do." EMERSON (phrase). Usage: "Emerson fine lookin' tars ya got on yer truck there, Leroy." FARSCAPE (noun). An emergency exit. Usage: "There was a far, but Bubba got out of the building alright ... he used the farscape." FIDNA GIT EEL (phrase). Expecting to become sick or upset. Usage: "Aye jus seed Jawjuh beat Bama, an AM FIDNA GIT EEL!" GUZINTA (verb). Mathematical term for division. Usage: "Fav guzinta fifteen three times. Two guzinta eight foe times." HARD (adj). Employeed. In the employ of. Usage: "Bubba's ain't here no more ... Burger King hard him away from us." HUNNERD (noun). A large quantity. Usage: "This knife cost me a hunerd bucks" MARKINS (proper noun). Citizens of the United States. Usage: "My fellow Markins..." MAUL-ANAR (phrase). A measurement of speed. Usage: "Mercy! That Dale Earnhardt musta been goin 200 maul-anar." MEERFURAMINIT! (phrase). Mandating a person's immediate presence. MEMBER (verb) To recall. Usage: "Bubba, make sho you member to fetch me some mo Moon Pies." OWN (prep). The opposite of off. Usage: "Mama ... Bubba's own TV!" PILLAR (noun). Something on which you rest your head or adorn your couch. Usage: "Put yer pillar back on the bed!" PRESHADIT (phrase). Pronounced "PRE-shay-diht". A way to give thanks. PROLLY (adv). Without much doubt. Usage: "I'm tarred. I'll prolly jus go to bed." PURT-NEAR (adj). Close. Usage: "I'm purt-near ready to graduate!" R (noun) Sixty minutes. Usage: "Woo-howdy ... I got my pickup truck up to 15 miles an R!" RACEHORSES (noun). Available means; computable wealth; or immediate and possible sources of revenue. Usage: "Kin ya tell me where the human racehorses office is?" or "We must preserve our natural racehorses." RAT CHEER (phrase). Usage: "Ahma gonna sit rat cheer til foe the safnoon." RETARD (adj). Completed tenure. No longer working. Usage: "My granpaw retard at age 65." SAFNOON (phrase). The period after supper and before dinner. Usage: "Ahma gonna sit rat cheer til foe the safnoon." SPEARMINT (noun, verb). Part of the scientific method. Usage: "I jus did a spearmint to see if my pickup truck could run on Jack Daniels instead of gasoline. Well, it caint." WUFFA "I went to the gas station and got foe dollas wuffa gas."
