Default 1940 Ford ute

There would not be many of these left . The Aust. army had these as the 12 cwt Van.

Looks to be nice and straight panels but oh boy the rust is chronic. New floors for these Ford utes were available at one time , made by the hot rod guys up at Castlemaine but that was many years ago.

Wow. As you say Mike, not many left and certainly not in a restorable condition. Very few dings and dents, and the missing bits are all procurable from salvage, NOS or reproduction - even those missing original door hinges! Love the adaption of some hardware hinges to overcome the lower hinge problem.

At least 146 served with the 2AIF, and an unknown number with the AMF. Of those assigned to the 2AIF, at least 118 were sent overseas in 1940. Several were subsequently lost in Greece during that military debacle.

Would be a very satisfying restoration of a 'Van, 12 cwt, GS (Aust)'.

Mike

Needs a lot of rust repairs but is restorable, front cross member is cracked where U Bolts hold front spring, there is some rust in rear of chassis where centre X member meets outer rails (common problem but repairable) missing one front backing plate but I should have one if I can find it.
