Default Ilderton Ontario July 8/9 2006

The Tri-County Heritage Club of Ilderton presents:
30th Annual Heritage & Antique Show
July 8 & 9, 2006
Ilderton, Ontario, Canada

This years 'feature' tractor is Minneapolis-Moline, but the organizers of the event have offered up a special place for historic military vehicles to be displayed.

There is no fee to exhibit, but the vehicles must register on the way into the show. Also there is free admission for exhibitors.

The folks at the Ilderton show have been good to the local MV gang over the years, and I have enjoyed the shows that I have attended in recent years. They provide a place to show off the vehicles.

There is no affiliation with any MV organization. No money for gas. No lunch provided. Some of the tractor exhibitors bring campers and spend Friday and Saturday evening at the site.

Ilderton is a little North of London, Ontario. 120 miles from Toronto and Detroit, 60 miles to Port Huron, 150 miles to Buffalo.

I plan to go again this year with my T-16, and expect to see Tommy Allen with 15cwt welder truck, and John Hotson with 30cwt truck.

See you there.

Default Sexton Readiness

Chris,

Perry and I chatted a bit about this on the long ride home to my place with the wrecked wrecker on the back of the tilt truck. He is feverishly working on a plan that might see a 2-stroke powerplant in it just to get it up and running.

As one can imagine, the rebuild costs of the big radial are prohibitive, but they have not been ruled out.

Can you get the halftrack out to Ilderton? My poor T-16 will look puny beside that big self propelled gun.

Default Ilderton show

Well gentlemen, at the very least I will have my MK II carrier out, and with a lot of luck and a fire lit under my arse, I could have the Sexton out. Gord has offered to man the drill for me as a last resort! You out there Gord?

Default Drill team?

Perry,

I never figured you for being on the Sexton drill team, but now I know different.

My generator is just collecting dust waiting for a power outage that has never come, so if we can lift it into the Sexton, and Gord has earmuffs, it just might work.

I think I offered both myself and Neil to help move the Sexton if needed with the expectation it would make the trip under its own power. Both Neil and I expect to be at Ilderton and will each have something along to drive. Should I bring the M135 for a tow vehicle?
Dispite the blowing snow and wind tonight spring is trying to warm the country side, so when's the next road trip Perry? I get lots of neat thing when I go with you!

Default road trip

Hey Gord,
the next road trip could be to pick up a 6-53 for the back end of that Sexton!

Stewart et al, I would really like to have the HT at Ilderton if I can. Currently I am employmentally challenged , at times mentally challenged, but will see what I can do. I am looking forward to the summer schedule of mv events and there are a few I'd like to get to. As usual, moving the HT presents its own challenges. Gotta talk my buddy into loaning me his tilt truck.

Default 1 Month Warning

Gents,

The annual Ilderton heritage and antique show is looming on the horizon. July 8/9 is not that far away.

So far the oddities of the CMP world will be represented - but where are the jeep guys? Are any iltis owners able to get thier tiny trucks motivated to attend? Are there any wreckers, half tracks, scout cars, amphibious whathaveyous, and assorted green stuff that want to show off the restoration efforts of the owners?

Who else is planning to attend this event just North of London, Ontario? The weather man is providing a money back guarantee that it will be pleasantly warm with scattered puffy clouds and a gentle breeze those days.

Default more event information

I spoke to Stan Elliot from the Tri-County Heritage Club and have more details about the weekend. Tom Allen will be pleased to hear we will be located near the memorial plaque which sounds like a good place to be. The gates open friday afternoon after 1:00 pm and vehicles can be brought onto the grounds and get yourself set up for the weekend. If you come saturday morning please try and be there by 10:00 am so we are settled before the crowds start to gather. There will be a parade of vehicles on saturday and sunday at 4:00 pm each day and vehicles are welcome to participate.
The committee has advertised on their event poster that military vehicles will be present at the show and they are very happy to have us come to the event. This is a chance for south western Ontario guys to get our vehicles out for the public to see and a great get together for us as well.
Well Perry how,s the engine project coming along? Will you work a miracle and have the Sexton rolling under her own power?

I'll try to get there, but I don't have a car anymore, so it might be difficult. Keep you posted.

Default Ilderton, Ontario

Mark,

Yes, the 30th annual Heritage and Antique show is to be held in Ilderton at the fair grounds - free parking off King Street North entrance.

In addition to the military vehicles, there are always steam and gas engines, tractors, cars and trucks, a ladies program and flea market.

The vehicles parade each day in the afternoon under a broiling sun - so bring your suntan lube and floppy hat.

See you there.
