4th Cdn. Armd. Div. Support Group Coy. RCASC England 1942 photograph
I have in my possession a very large group photograph of the 4th Canadian Armoured Division Support Group Company RCASC taken in England, November 1942.
Anybody know anything about this group/photograph? Terry

Some notes on the 4th Canadian Armoured Divisional Support Group Company, R.C.A.S.C.: 1.) - As a unit of the Non-Permanent Active Militia/Canadian Army (Reserve), from May 1940 to April 1946: Prior to being 'Called Out' and ‘Placed on Active Service’, 4th Divisional Supply Column, R.C.A.S.C., was a unit of the Non-Permanent Active Militia, based at Quebec City, P.Q., in Military District No. 5. They were a component of 4th Divisional, R.C.A.S.C. (N.P.A.M.), which was comprised of: - 4th Divisional Ammunition Company, R.C.A.S.C. (N.P.A.M.) - 4th Divisional Petrol Company, R.C.A.S.C. (N.P.A.M.) - 4th Divisional Supply Column, R.C.A.S.C. (N.P.A.M.) also based at Quebec City, P.Q. After the formation of the 4th Divisional Supply Column, R.C.A.S.C., C.A.S.F., the 4th Divisional Supply Column, R.C.A.S.C., carried on at Quebec City, as a unit of the Non-Permanent Active Militia, being redesignated 4th (Reserve) Divisional Supply Column, R.C.A.S.C., effective 7 November 1940. For the purposes of reorganization of Reserve Units of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps, 4th (Reserve) Divisional Supply Column, R.C.A.S.C., was disbanded effective 23 March 1942, and again, for the purposes of reorganization of Reserve Units of the R.C.A.S.C., effective 24 March 1942, were redesignated 7th (Reserve) Divisional Supply Column, R.C.A.S.C., based at Quebec City, P.Q., being a component of 7th (Reserve) Divisional, R.C.A.S.C., which was comprised of: - Commander 7th (Reserve) Divisional, R.C.A.S.C. - 7th (Reserve) Divisional Ammunition Company, R.C.A.S.C. - 7th (Reserve) Divisional Petrol Company, R.C.A.S.C. - 7th (Reserve) Divisional Supply Column, R.C.A.S.C. all of which were based at Quebec City, P.Q. Effective 1 April 1946, 7th (Reserve) Divisional Supply Column, R.C.A.S.C., was converted and redesignated No. 27 Divisional Troops Company, R.C.A.S.C., a unit of the Canadian Army (Reserve Force). 2.) - As a unit of the Canadian Active Service Force/Canadian Army (Active), from May 1940 to September 1945: Was 'Called Out' and 'Placed on Active Service', as a unit of the Canadian Active Service Force - effective 24 May 1940, under the designation of Serial 963 - 4th Divisional Supply Column, R.C.A.S.C., C.A.S.F., under command of Headquarters, 4th Divisional R.C.A.S.C., C.A.S.F. a component part of the 4th Division, C.A.S.F. For organizational purposes during mobilization, the Supply Column was located at Valcartier Camp, P.Q. Following the conversion in January 1942 of the 4th Division to that of an Armoured Division, 4th Divisional Supply Column, R.C.A.S.C., was converted and redesignated Serial 963 - 4th (Armoured) Divisional Support Group Company, (No. 12 Company), R.C.A.S.C. - effective 1 March 1942, coming under command of Headquarters, 4th (Armoured) Divisional Support Group. They proceeded overseas to the United Kingdom in October 1942. In January 1943, following a further reorganization of the 4th Canadian Armoured Division, 4th (Armoured) Divisional Support Group Company, (No. 12 Company), R.C.A.S.C. was redesignated Serial 963 - No. 12 Company, R.C.A.S.C., - effective 7 January 1943 and were moved over to the 1st Canadian Infantry Division, where under command of Headquarters Commander 1st Canadian Infantry Division, R.C.A.S.C., they fulfilled the duty of 1st Canadian Infantry Divisional Troops Company, R.C.A.S.C. until being disbanded - effective 8 September 1945, having served with the 1st Canadian Infantry Division, in the United Kingdom, Sicily, Italy and North-West Europe (Belgium & The Netherlands).
