Default 6 pdr Anti Tank

It needs a lot of work, but I sensed the poachers were starting to circle so I had to work a deal on this relic. The barrel is a modified/salvaged Bofors barrel, and there are numerous brackets etc missing, but when it comes to artillery you can't always be too picky. Best of all t was only an hour away.

Thanks to Rob and Tony who happened to be out there and helped load this along with the rest of the day's treasures.

Hi Rob,

Congratulations on your latest find. Do you know where it was made?

Cheers,

Default That was a great day Rob!

I'm glad Tony and myself could help out with the loading of this Canadian gem. Beautiful! Cheers Rob

I believe it was made by Regina Industries in Canada. Regina is about 350 km from here.

Yes, I guess I will need one.

I'm going to be a little skint (I believe that's the British word for "no money" ) for the next while as this and the other pile of parts that I bought were not cheap. But that's OK, as the snow will soon be here and I can sit in the living room and enjoy the fireplace.

Default 6 pounder under new management

After a long drawn out high stress trading negotiation I became the new owner of this 6 pdr. Now begins the search for restoration parts, spares, manuals, rounds, etc, etc., If you can help with items or point me in the correct direction please post here or contact me. I've posted some project photos and reference photos and you can see the many items needed.

Also thanks to Jon for transporting it to Edmonton.

Congratulations on the new acquisition. We are lucky to have Rob in the fold, both for his generosity of knowledge, and his willingness to share his treasures.

A bit of a delayed response, but I just saw your post. It was hardly a drawn out negotiation...you had something I wanted and you made an offer to trade which you didn't think I would accept. You started a conversation with someone else while I pondered, and between 30 seconds and 3 minutes later I exclaimed those irreversible words: "Done deal". I think that how quickly I responded made you wonder if you had made a bad deal. It is said that the best deals are where both parties wonder if they paid/gave too much. This was a good deal for us both.

I just replaced the missing 6 pounder in the yard with this one shown in the photos. Sure it is missing 4 pounds from the 6 pounder, but I am happy.

All
Rob's post reminded me that I am long overdue in thanking a number of people on this Forum for their help on several occasions - all connected with my very own 6 Pounder related quest.
I now own both the M1 57mm US made variant and the British 6 Pounder (Mine made in Canada actually)
They take pride of place in my "Museum" collection.
Particular thanks to Adrian Barrell and Marc Van Aalderen in respect of the 6 Pounder. Adrians engineering skills and Marc's sourcing of some extra parts have got me to this point - and as always contributions and knowledge from this forum generally keep you going, not least Rob Nixon and Kevin Powles when you think all is lost !!
I hope the pictures are of interest.
I still have one key item to find - Ammunition Box C264 - If you know of one for sale let me know - The hunt goes on !!
Thanks to all
Rob

Very nice collection Rob....a collectors dream. Lots and lots of the good stuff in every direction. Some not in the hobby could call it clutter, we will call it "gold everywhere you look". Impressive.

It will put on a few pounds with time; seems to be my experience of these things!
