Yea someone did a lot of work on that one. It also has a rear end from something else, I think maybe a T16?

Wow, that bid just confirms my assessment that people in Alberta have WAY too much money for their own good!
That is an outrageous price to pay for a scrapper.

It appears that this one would have made a good "donor" for someone who had a complete armoured hull sans drivetrain.
Just to put things into perspective, within the last 2 years two carriers I saw go at auctions here in Ontario went in the $2500 - $3000 range. Both had complete armour, drivetrains and "goodies" still attached... I think this just goes to show the "trap" that many enthusiasts fall into. Pay way too much for too little to only find out that the actual restoration cost is going to fall into the thousands of dollars later. Once you are finally finished and decide to sell and move on to something else, the cheapskates come out in droves expecting to get a really good "deal". I would hazzard a guess to say that carrier needs a minimum of $10,000 plus a donor hull just to make it right. Whats the going price on a fully restored carrier these days???

Tracks were wore out pretty good, they had been totally taken apart and shimmed with washers so they tracked straight. no extra links left. Still could easily be restored and returned to right hand drive as all linkage was just reversed. Three times more than I wanted to pay but now I have a good idea what mine is worth as it is all original excep for some home made brackets. Wonder what the one down by Vulcan is going to go for on Sunday?

I would venture to guess that a restored carrier would fall into the $16000-$30,000+ range here in Canada. Seems like there are a lot of guys with more money than time these days. |

Hi Rob
I just threw the $10,000 number out there off the top of my head. If one considers the following, it's not too hard to add up quickly; rebuilt flathead $3500 sandblasting and paint $2000 rebuild transmission and rear diff, brakes (assuming new bearings, seals and gaskets and you do it yourself) $500? pull and replace or repack wheel bearings, @ $35 to $50 each x 8 new fenders and associated sheet metal, just have a look at Midwest Military site for prices guages and electrical $$500-$1000 radiator rebuild $500 on and on and on.... 10 years ago when I did my 12 cab Ford cmp, the truck cost me $900 and I put another $6500 into it. Considering the drivetrain and many other components are relative, I think my $10g figure is close on doing a carrier ad I would add that that would be if you were doing most of the work yourself.

Well when this guy from ( Loydminster area ) bought this carrier the owner asked him if he would stand beside it so that he could get a photo of him with it and the (jerk) said my picture costs money and proceeded to walk away. Soooo.. I say, I think he should have paid more than he did.
