Default Chevrolet 30cwt LRDG toy model

... I'm getting excited. King&Country just announced the release of 2 LRDG Chevs, as used in North Africa. One truck is even a Kiwi truck. Will be released in September.

By the way, King&Country released a similar truck back in 1999. But I've never seen in on eBay or so, they're very hard to come by and expensive. The early models, built in 1999 - 2001 usually skyrocketing up to USD 1'000.

what scale are these?

Apart from a few stowage add ons and the figures this is a faithful copy of the Tamiya LRDG Chev in 1/35 scale. The Tamiya kit is what I use as a donor kit to make the MCP Chev models.

Default They are BOTH Kiwi trucks,

from R and T patrols.

The driver of R5 wears a "Lemon Squeezer" as our field service hats were called. You will note the puggree is coloured: probably khaki/red/khaki which are the 'arm of service' colours for infantry.

This was worn prior to WW1 till the mid 50's. (In the Boer war the troops wore a similar hat to the Aussi slouch hat)

Many of the early recruits to the LRDG were from the Divisional Cavalry Regiment who may have used the mounted rifles colours of khaki/green/khaki.

Today the lemon squeezer is only used for parade dress, with a broad red puggee for all corps. The mounted rifles hat has been resurrected too, and is worn with the mounted rifles puggree.

(Berets still remain for normal dress, but with less distinctions between units and corps now.)

FYI

Scale should be between 1/30 and 1/32. They're ready built and quite heavy, they've got turning wheels nowadays and are hand-painted by little Chinese hands ;-)

The desert tan colored costs USD 125, the camo one USD 150. Quite expensive but K&C is the top of the toy soldier makers.

@Rob
Thank you for the useful information

The models are reportedly in 1:30 scale and all metal (the same technology like the lead figures I guess).

... I wouldn't call that metal. It's a special, very hard composite thing.
