I bought an 400 W. inverter from Costco, installed it in a box I cobbled together to look like a Cognac crate, bought a cheap vintage lamp at a flea market and voila!...instant electric lighting. The unit is quiet and unobtrusive for the authenticity police and with a deep-cycle battery can provide light and even a little heat for an entire weekend.
