Default 2lb attack carrier model (Aust)

here is my 1/35 scale model of a 2lb anti tank carrier.

I used the Tamiya carrier kits bogies, tracks & lower hull the rest is scratch built. Gun is a modified Sovereign 2000 resin kit. Formation & unit decals are home made with the white numbers being Archer dry decals. Numbers and unit markings are ficticious and for representation purposes only.

I have made a couple of mistakes but am overall pleased with the result.

Cheers
Cliff

Default Model

You could almost hop in and drive it!

Congratulations, Cliff what a great job you've done, and a unique model to boot.

Thumbs up Bloody Bonza Mate

Mate that's a fantastic job, especially as you couldn't just go out and have a look at one. As you said there are some very minor inaccuracies but shit, I don't reckon that I could do better and I can go have a look at one in the flesh.

Once again, bloody top effort mate.

Very nice Cliff!

I recently heard a rumor that it is possible to fit the Tristar Panzer 1 individual tracks to the Tamiya carrier, which ought to be an improvement upon the kit tracks. What is your opinion? Panzer 1 tracks seem a lot different from Carrier tracks, if you ask me.

I have also got a set of ModelKasten tracks for the carrier, but this is an absolute nightmare.......great detail, but you need a whole holiday to fit them......In fact, maybe it takes just as much time as restoring and re-pinning tracks on a genuine carrier

great job Cliff,

regards,

Alex van de Wetering, The Netherlands

Same impression regarding the Pz I track: improvement but still off.

Resicast sells a Universal Carrier update with realistic tracks, resin cast and much easier to use.

I paid for a resicast set but was ripped off by the Canadian seller and this is why I used the Tamiya rubber band tracks. An English friend sent me a spare length of track so I could do the longer tracks as the attack carrier is 5mm longer then standard at 1/35 scale.

Thanks for the comments guys I really appreciate them.

Cheers

Default Carrier Hull Number

Hi Cliff
Beautiful model as always, however your Hull Number is incorrect. The 2pdr Anti-Tank Carriers were sequentially numbered from #6000 to #6200. #4121 was designated to a 2A produced by Ford under Order No. CCN.62 as was the Jacques Littlefields Carrier if that purports to be an Aussie Carrier.

Default Funny Numbers???

Apparently Jacques Littlefields carrier was sold to him by Mr J Swan. I was told that the hull number is slightly mixed up. currently reads 4086 but it should read 6084.

This better fits with what we know about 2Pdr hull numbers.

Default 2 Pdr AT Carrier

Bob is correct, all the 2 Pdr Carriers started with the series number six and the other three digits were the ARN (serial or hull number). Giving you a four digit number 6XXX. The hull number was also stamped into the tow coupling at the front centre of the vehicle with stamps about 3/4 inches high. Gives you a place to look if you don't have the ID plate.

Bob thanks for that but I did say in my first post that

Mind you had I realised they started with a six I would have made a six the first digit. The numbers were cut out of a set of US Army numbers made by Archer Transfers.

Thanks & Cheers

Default 2 Pdr

By the way Cliff, I'm impressed with the model. I restored the one at the Bandi Museum and the detail on yours is pretty good.

Default 2pdr Hull Number

Ian
If I don't learn something new every day it's a bad day. I have never been made aware before about the Hull Number being stamped on the front tow coupling. Not having much to do with this style of Carrier, I've never studied the details.
Thanks - Bob

Another nice model, which leads to another question, were you building models prior to taking to the wheel chair.

Reason I ask is we have a friend in a similair situation, and he does really good embrodery work only took it up after he was grounded.

Seems that most of us have talents hidden, that often only comw out when we loose something in our lives.

Great job mate, it is always good to see your work.

Regards

Col

Col I only started the models after being confined to a wheelchair although I can still walk a little as long as I hold onto something.

Hard to believe though that it has only been 4 to 5 years though.

Cheers

Great job Cliff. I bought a Tamiya 1/48 model of a MK 11 U/C just to have something to do between books and bad television. You have my respect that's for sure. Mine looks nothing like that. In fact it looks like it was a class project for primary school kids. Your patience and fine motor skills must be incredible.
Keep it up.
