CMP Cab 13 windows
Perhaps this post belongs in the Restoration Forum, but anyway, here goes:
I have both left and right repro windows for my 13 cab. I also have, separately, the two canvas strips which fit to the front of the cab. These strips are described: 18" x 2 1/2", with 5 "Lift-A-Dot" fasteners. There is a 2" x 18" attached strap which runs mid point down the middle of the strap, forming a right angled fixture. Question: How to mate the straps to the window frame? There are 6 small nuts and bolts holding the window framework together. Anyone have info, drawings, etc that can help me out? Damn...wouldn't a scan go good now?

Duct tape. Silver duct tape
Jon, they are sandwiched between the metal frames, to the outside of the clear plastic (ie. from the exterior looking in: metal frame, canvas flap, clear plastic, metal frame). Keep in mind there is a left and a right of these.
What's all this talk of sealing in youe Chev? Surely not in anticipation of another brutal Owen Sound winter? |

Phil:
Thanks for the pics. Between your post and Bruce's, I'm sure that I now have it figured out. Bruce: And to you...thanks for the info. Say what in your second paragraph???

Bruce/Phil:
Is there a need for some sort of grommet to be used on the fabric whilst sandwiching the parts?

No gromret
Unless your Chev is before serial 484449999 modified to operate in the Owen Sound snow belt, in which case the parts books calls for:
4296310 Grommets, special, anti-snow, window flap securing (skagfeld pattern). Qty. 10 4296312A Seatings, fur lined, anti-snow, window flap securing (skagfeld pattern). Qty. 10 Say, I have a spare set of NOS ones just for you... Ford CMP's never had these. Anything cold that could enter the cab and cool the engine down so it would run was not prevented. |
