Default RAAF Kittyhawk records

Found this while searching the national archives .

Interesting place, thay have begun to place individual Australian WW2 service records on this site ... for those with relatives , you can be lucky and find info on that elusive relative .

Mike

PS found a record relating to the freighter IMP vehicle that was sold recently , they were considering using a Holden engine in it and a Porsche engine of all things !

Thanks Mike
For that little titbit on theFreighter Imp. Dates tie up nicely too, Dec '54 on the folder, while information from the sale was that it was designed 1956/58.
Interesting to note that GM were not interesting in having one of their motors fitted, little did they know that 25% of the Imps contempories (that would be the Land Rover) ended up with the trusty Six fitted...eventually.
Rich.

If you go to the last page of Mike's NAA link above, it records the crash of Kittyhawk A29-192 being flown by F/O John Grey Gorton. Gorton, of course was Australia's 19th Prime Minister from 1968 to 1971. His trademark broken nose was a result of this accident. He died in 2002.

Cheers
Rod
