Happy Dominion Day, you mean! Call me old fashioned...
 Just watched a two hour special on the ceremonies commemorating the 90th anniversary of the battle of Beaumont Hamel... very touching. And yes, I was well familiar with the battle long ago. The Last Post followed by Revielle makes me cry, I'm not ashamed to say. The CBC in this did very well, surprisingly. What I didn't know is that Rex Murphy, who I like, is a Newfie. I've worked with them in past and love them all. For those of you not in the loop here, Google 'Royal Newfoundland Regiment' and 'Beaumont Hamel'. 801 went in and next morning, 68 were on parade. Princess Anne presided over the ceremony in the actual trenches at Beaumont Hamel, while our Governor General did the same in Ottawa today. All in all very well done. In the meantime, Happy Dominion Day, everyone! This day in 1867, Canada was granted status as an independent Dominion by the Crown, through implementation of the British North America Act.

If you watched the programme then you saw my son. He is the RSM of the GGFG cadets and was an escort. Unfortunately I missed it but hope to see him on the news later.

After we took the photos of my son and had started to walk away, a bus load of tourists arrived. We watched from a distance while my son was being swarmed by all of those camera yielding tourists. I never imaginrd that my boy would grow up to be a tourist attraction.

i totally agree with your statement regarding suitable punishment, but before this punk goes anywhere, they should chain him to a sidewalk so that people can relieve themselves on him, no shade, in the boiling sun...and see how he likes it. back here in the east we would cover him in lobster juice and set him on an ant hill...but at the current price of lobster, the punk isn't worth it.  mike

Arrive at legion 5:00 PM ,drum in tow.-BEER-await piper to show up-BEER-he shows up in full ceremoniial including feather bonnet(has another gig afterwords). I show up in Gordon Highlanders' balmoral with a KOSB hat badge,khaki open neck shirt,Sutherland battle tarton kilt and white purse sporran,Black Watch green lovat hose and brogues.- TWO BEER=piper doesn't drink so I had his.Get led out to stage in front of hundreds of teens.Speak on the microphone to teens about our serving troops.They remain quiet and clap when we dedicate these tunes to the the troops,many of them around their age-Highland Cathedral-Amazing Grace-Scotland the Brave and march off to GWB's favorite tune-The Maple Leaf Forever,to a standing ovation.Back to legion-BEER-BEER-BEER BEER-.Home at 8;00 PM.Crash in den.Geez,never paid for any beverages.What's today's date.Boy,how time passes.

More news from CTV. The 23 year old person from Montreal is being charged with mischief, while the two under age teenagers from Ottawa will escape criminal sanctions and will instead be dealt with under special provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
