Default Import Duties schedule etc

After spending the better part of the last 6 hours on the Gov. of Canada website looking for information on the importation of an agricultural tractor from the US. to Canada , I'm bested. I know about the southest asia market and tractors are considered livestock and etc etc but nothing on importing one. Does any of the esteemed members here have a link or idea on importing a farm tractor from the US? Even with exchange they are considerably cheaper, no wonder our guys have trouble competing or are using older machines all the time.

erm, tie in to said website....I need a tractor to tow the CMP trailer and drop and the flathead in to the carrier...just won't get done without it. Looking back , it seems fitting as a tractor hauled it out.

Default Canada Customs

Being in shipping,if I were you.I'd call my local customs office and check with them.Tell them your problem.they'll find an answer. If its a used tractor, duties should be lower.

Default some info

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/E/pub/cp/.../rc4044-e.html

you must also comply with transport canada rules in concert with customs dept.

it would seem that anything newer than the last 15 years has to be on a special list or it can not be imported and there are exceptions ( ie: living there and bringing car home, etc.) and it differs for countries other than the US.

However , farm tractors are duty free except for GST and/or provincial taxes...and this was from the gospel word of a Customs officer.

Why not drop the Flathead into the tractor?
