Default Landsverk combat vehicles for export

Landsverk took up production of armoured vehicles in 1928.

So far I have been able to identify:

Armoured cars
L-185 (1934) Denmark 1 (nr FP 6)

L-181 (1936) Ireland 2 (ZC 757, ZC 758), Lithuania 10, Netherlands 12 (M/36 + 1 spare parts later rebuilt as recovery vehicle)

L-180 (1936) Denmark 2 (Nr FP 7-8), Ireland 6, Netherlands 12 M/38 + 2 HQ cars

Lynx (1939) Denmark 3 (Nr FP 9-11)

Tanks
L-60 (1937) Austria 1, Hungary 1, Ireland 2

Hungary made at least 200 L-60s "Toldi" on licence by Mowag and Ganz

"Lago" Hungary - unknown number

Further help needed!

Picture: L 181 in Lithuania. What happned to them?

Other vehicles
AA carriers on L-60 chassis: Finland 6 Anti II (1943) - three surviving in Parola armoured troops museum.

Default Pansarbil m/41

Five L-180 intented for Ireland were taken over by the R Sw Army. They got Lynx-turrets. All were scrapped.

In the Swe Armour Museum they have an Irish L-180 (Nr ZC 5837).

Default Dominican Republic

I forgot: In 1960 Sweden sold 20 second-hand L-60 and an unknown number of Lynx to Dominican Republic.

9 L-60 and 3 Lynx are now for sale!

Picture: L-60/S-V (Nr 494 - the last built).

Stellan // Will try to summarize.

Lithuania only got 6 Landsverks.
Why they numbered them from 5-10 (old fact mentions 6-11), I don't know.
They had sveral teething problems as it was the first version of this design actually realized, amongst others a weak clutch which often broke down. I have magazine articles, unpublished photos and some reports about them. I also had access to the delivery contract with some interesting information. They disappeared when Lithuania was annexed in 1940. The vehicles which were running were probably included with a Russian Tank Division which later fought in Lithuania in the Summer of 1941. I recall it was the 23rd or 28th Tank Division, I don't have my files at hand.
I have unpublished photos of other Baltic AFVs abandoned around the Baltic states in 1941, including an Estonian WW1-Rhomboid (Mk V Composite), not used as a static pillbox but actually was a runner!

Also, the Swedish cars were not totally scrapped, recently I found out about the existence of a chassis, this is used in a totally different purpose yet today!

Dom.Rep received 13 although they claim 10 Landsverk Lynx themselves. I have sources for this statement.
Intl.Repo Depo has had more vehicles for sale, but a few has already been sold, unfortunately I have not been able to find out who bought 'em, but I will. The best L-60s and the best Lynx has been sold and is not on display on that website anylonger. I have both published and unpublished photographs, also spoke to acknowledged vehicle collectors in both the UK and in the US which were considering to buy one of those rarities, they have visited the place to review their condition. There are a few people in Sweden who are hoping to get one of the Landsverk Lynx back home, as the one at the Swedish Armour Museum is a Lynx, license-built by Volvo.

Default Landsverk Lynx APC

Thanks!

As I understood only the 15 Lynx m/39 (later m/40) intended for Denmark were built by Landsverk and the 30 m/40 by Volvo-Penta in Skövde.

Is that right?

Stellan

The 15 Landsverk Lynx were designated m/39, while the license-built were designated m/40, so this is correct.

It was only m/39 that was sold to Dom.Rep., and the vehicle at Axvall is a m/40 - there are minor differences on these vehicles.
