25 pdr. oil can
On the way home from CC5 I suddenly remembered where I had seen this oil can wooden block on a 25 pdr. I stopped and took photos of it but it is badly deteriorated since I last saw it about 15 years ago. Unfortunately I didn't have Brian Gough with me and he is the keeper of all the stuff us collectors should carry when driving in the country. Note pad, measuring tape, binoculars, magnifying glass etc. Hence no measurements. Does anyone have one of these blocks I could copy or have access to a good one for measurements? Dirk Leegwater has one half of the leather retaining straps, but that is the only part I have ever seen before. I managed to get the proper oil can at a yard sale but for the $2.00 price I had to take that other old army can in his barn as well. It was my lucky day for once and it was a POW can.
Any help would be appreciated. Barry

Barry, next time I'm in Guelph I'll head round to the 11fd REGT and check if their display gun has one. If it doesn't maybe the parade gun in the gunpark has one and I'll see if I can sweet talk my way in for you...
