Hi David and Alan,

Received my copy today.
Thanks for this wonderfull publication!

Surprisingly, I recently got a photo from a M6 High Speed Tractor as displayed on pages 18-21 in the book.
On the back of the photo the following text:

"Souvenir of 241 Super Heavy Battery, 61st Super Heavy Regiment, R.A., Groenlo, Holland, May 1945".

Default M6

Wow! What a photo! Is there a high-resolution version available please? I might be able to use it in VINTAGE ROADSCENE magazine.

Regrettably Alan is very ill in hospital and has been for some weeks.

I do hope you guys want a follow-up (or two) book in the same vein!

David,
The link to the contents doesn't work. It needs a . after www.
Maybe you can amend.

The # 12 Cab CGT was supposedly the first vehicle assembled at Cuerden Mill, Bamber Bridge, near Preston, Lancashire which would have been May? 1941. The old woollen mill was taken over by General Motors Ltd.

Default Pearsons book

Just like to say I have now seen it and the photographs as well as the quality of printing are absolutely outstanding!

My favourites are the post-war conversions of the C8 cab 12s into vans, including a most unlikely woodie and ice cream van.

David,

The book arrived yesterday. Wow, excellent work! Lots of large size, large resolution pictures of interesting vehicles.
It will get a nice spot next to the books of Nigel Watson and the publications of Bart VanderVeen!

May I ask that if anyone wants a copy, please contact the Publishers direct, and not Trans-Pennine Publishing, the editors and where Profesor Earnshaw was based (also a 'book shop'). Regrettably Trans-Pennine have been wound-down as a result of Alan's death. The company's shop in Appleby has also been closed. It has in fact turned out much sadder than anyone had thought possible.

Default Vintage Roadscene

It is with some pleasure that I confirm that VINTAGE ROADSCENE that was fomerly franchised by Trans-Pennine Publishing and edited by Alan Earnshaw, has continued under Ian Allan Publishing. A new Editor has been appointed and it will continue under Ian Allan for the future. Yours truly continues to write for MILITARY SCENE, and back copies containing the entire CMP Story from inception to 1939 are available.

I mention this just to advise that not all was lost when Alan passed-on.

David,

That is good news.

Could you please list the subject of each of your articles and the issue numbers they were printed in? A while back I tried to search through the list of back issues but could not find them.

Thanks,
Hanno

To be honest I am not sure myself as I don;t have a complete set but the CMP Story started in issue 105 I think and has just finished with issue 118, with 13 Parts! The first part of the WD Mechanization Report started with issue 99, and the first part relating to the 1936-1938 Mechanization Board Reports started with issue 85 I think.

Default Hayward: After The War Was Over The Pearsons of Liverpool Story

From the website http://www.pearsonsofliverpool.co.uk/

Quote:
War time assembly work - inside the WORKS
As Pearsons had been one of General Motors major dealers in the north of England, they were asked to help the American company find a new operational assembly plant when the GM factory at Southampton was blitzed in 1940.

Pearsons duly obliged and proposed that an old cotton mill at Cuerdon Bamber Bridge near Preston, would be ideally placed for receiving the vehicles that were then beingimported. However, in addition, Pearsons quickly established the opportunity to acquire some of the assembly of Canadian Military Pattern vehicles in Liverpool.
