Default 6-pounder for sale

Now that got your attention didn't it!

Please take a look at this gun offered down in the US - why aren't the TX gang in on this?

Good luck!

Item number: 4613865796 if the link does not work. The seller claims that this is not regulated as the breech ring is removed - I am not sure what the border guards at the 49th parallel would say to that ... perhaps somebody like Clive Law would know.

PS - lots of good 57mm pix for your collection / restoration efforts.

Default Bad Link

Gents,

The link to that gun only works now and again - try searching with the item number. Gun currently $7,100 US.

Clive - did you retire or get a job at GD? Or escape to the 'real' world - like Bob Carriere did? hahaha

I could tell you, but I would have to shoot you first.

I'd have been all over it if I had a spare $8050.00. Unfortunately, I'm still recovering from my shoulder surgery and am still not working. Dave already has one of these I believe, although being independently wealthy I'm sure he wouldn't have minded a brace of AT guns. LOL!
I currently am working on another acquisition right now...can't say too much but it involves a Bofors in Sweden that has been offered free to our flying museum via an ex-Saab test pilot who is a member, we just have to pay for de-milling and shipping and then get U.S. Gov't approval. Details to follow.

Vehicle Description
An all original WWII US Army issue M1 57mm Anti tank cannon. Barrel made by American Type Founders and M2 carriage made by International Harvester in Chicago, Ill. This is a late war production gun, I am basing that on the abbsence of rope hooks and footmans loops on the shield. Also some other small changes made to simplify production, like no front recovery eye and drain holes added in several spots. Data plate is missing. This gun was brought into the USA 10yrs ago from South American. It has been sand blasted and painted with Gillespie early war OD. They made 15,637 of these. Much rarer than any MB or GPW. Please note that there are some parts missing. The scope mount and landing legs and some other parts. The hardware that locks the legs together is incomplete, so I just tie rope to secure the legs together. Also one spade tip is broke off. Tool box is a tanker ammo can. Note that the inside of the barrel has pitting. Otherwise this 57mm looks great. Would tow great behind your halftrack or CCKW or WC 51. Email me at Tranham@hotmail.com or call me 615-418-2073 for questions. Buyer is responsible to arrange for pickup.

On Feb-15-06 at 15:34:59 PST, seller added the following information:

Also wanted to point out that the wheel bearings have been checked and looked brand new. They have been greased up. Added some pictures of the gun sandblasted. The gun has no pitting except inside the barrel and on the sleigh under the barrel. There is no breech ring or breech. This is inert and not a firearm.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Feb-18-06 at 05:22:18 PST, seller added the following information:

Several people have asked about size. The 57mm weighs in at 2,800lbs and is nearly 17ft long. 6" 5" wide.

Thanks Jon! One simple request to Mr. Spawning-Bass and he did all the rest. Looks great, doesn't it?! Kinda makes me feel like I'm one of the boys now. As for the motto, I just picked up a copy of "The Concise Lineages of the Canadian Army 1855 to Present" on ebay. It has the crest, history, motto, battle honours and dress uniform of all the regiments.

CHIMO!
