As you know, the "Jeep in a crate" is an urban myth - but the "Spitfire in a crate" isn't!

From the website: "The method of construction is aimed at the average person who is good with their hands."

Seeing what some scale modellers can do with their hands, they would certainly qualify. I think this is just a matter of mindset... the Mk26B is a 90% scale model

Default Well.....

As much fun as it might be to build and fly, I'm pretty sure it's out of range for me.

Just a turnkey Chev LS engine (for ground vehicles) seems to be about $12,000 US. No gerarbox, no propellor, no airfame, none of the many other bits, just the engine.
An aviation LS seems to be 4-6 times the cost. https://www.kitplanes.com/2016-engine-buyers-guide/
Based on some reading about homebuilts, and based on the rough ratio of engine cost to airframe cost for lesser airplanes, I would guess a total cost of $125000 and up depending in engine choice, avionics setup (can be well ove $10K) etc..

More research came up with http://www.campbellaeroclassics.com/id56.html which gave costing information as "
Pricing: Mk26B (90% scale) - US$165,000 kit only.
Contact us for modular kit pricing, fast build kit pricing, and other options pricing (engine, prop, avionics, etc)" I assume in NZ$.

Consistent with my stab in the dark of $quarter million plus.
