On second thought
...with a broad arrow only, it surely had nothing to do with Vic Rif.

On third thought...
Since it looks flat, wonder if it was to hold the plotting chart for the Mortar Fire Controller (MFC)?

Jon:
Surely this is speculative nonsence. On topics related to those other than communications, Jimmy, et. al., to wit, your limited knowledge may perjure my chances at an honest answer. Ahhh.emmmm.

Oh, and...
It fits over the front end of a 3" mortar shell protecting the fuse. Or the rear end protecting the fins. Can't stretch it over the muzzle of the beast itself. Besides, there is a nice leather device to do that.

Well...
...if you knew the answer, why did you ask the question, dickhead? Was it supposed to be a trivia question?
Anyway, did you see Clives's post on this forum (Armour) about pics of Fox? BTW, today, I just finished doing a refurb on UC 10 Swbd and D Mk 5 teles. Lights light, night alarm rings, magneto activates stuff, buzzer does its thing...who needs a cell-phone? Next project...large erection...34' mast for the 19 set. See you at the Keefy session in London?

Fox Pics
No,contrary to your well documented opinion of me, I don't know the answer.
Good sport on the UC and Tele D. How much No.2 wire between Chatsworth and here? Maybe we should talk via. 42 set on old squelch instead? Have paint and desire to restore several Johnsons. You in? See you @ Keefy session. We got Aussie learning to do. |

Chore horse
Count me in...include Chris Vickery, since I gave him a unit which was cannibalised in order to make mine run.
You do remember that session when we screwed around with the generator in my Brampton garage? The leftovers of that are what Chris has.

Fox pic posts, to wit:
I offer..."for sale: Original 1943 Fox turret. Will exchange for WW2 era 6 pdr. cannon and pintle hook."

Chorehorse, again
(Editorial comment: why do I have brilliant thoughts after I post?)
Anyway, I too have correct paint for chorehorse (not much). Would this be a good idea for a workshop project at the 2004 Chatsworth MV get-together? Offer still open for you and Sunray to rack out here...we can almost crawl home from there. Anyway, a thought.

Secondly, are you now to be known as "Dickhead", vice "Pinky"? Thirdly, if we keep carrying on like this, moderator is gonna cut us off. (But there's two of us and only one of him!). He's probably asleep anyway.

10 line UC
I have some spares for these, as I recently picked up about 6 ex-Greek, incl. two aluminium cased ones that both are dated 1940.
I can cannabalize some parts in exchange for a set of cables with weights, as my Exchange, 10 Line UC, is missing all cable which I lent to an aquintance who claims that they were returned (but they are not here). |

UC 10 line swbd
I'll keep you in mind. I need a spare buzzer unit and the cable for the night alarm.
I'll be attending a few militaria shows in the upcoming months and will keep my eyes open for drop cords; then perhaps we can discuss further. Regards

More on CC3
Just yesterday, I was talking to Nanci, Jeff Caldwell's wife. (Jeff and his brother Don started this get together 2 years ago).
Preparations are already ramping up for CC3. It'll be a hoot to hear Mike McKinley carrying on again. Alas, I doubt that Keith Webb will attend since he's due here next week. Two visits to Canada in one year would probably do him in. Please!...if you have to hog-tie him and throw him into the back of a pick up, bring Art Johnson! For any one else reading, and thinking about attending, please consider it seriously. The event is a combination swap meet/display/trading of information/etc. Last year there were about a dozen MVs present. There's lots of camping space available on-site, or, lots of cheap motels in the area, or, I live about 10 km away and have 5 acres of space for anyone to crash. B & B possible...(i.e.what brand of beer for breakie?). Good fun, good people, good food, good source of parts and info. AFAIK, it's the last weekend in June.

Talking of airshows
The Tyabb airshow this year in mid-March unfortunately clashes with the Corowa event (most inconvenient) but promises to have up to seven P51s in the air together, and along with other significant warbirds like the Mk VIII Spitfire, Boomerang and Wirraways will be a fantastic sight and sound.
In the days leading up to this event I'll be doing some air to air filming of the practice formations, including doing the display routine with the Southern Knights in 4 T6 Harvards. Better have that banana for breakfast... because it tastes about the same coming up as going down... Link to Tyabb Airshow

Aircraft and such...
Wow..., 7 P51s and 4 Harvards in the air... It's enough to make the pee drizzle down one's leg, right beside the stiffie that's trying to stay under control.
Zoom, zoom, zoom...am I cleared to land?
