Default Front End Off ??

Could the brain trust ID this front 4x2 axle for me?
5 stud, with a ribbed brake drum.
The eagle eyed observer will also note the brand new Chev front end underneath, still in the crate which is now showing its age and weathering. (One of 2). No prize for that one.
All help appreciated as always.
Rich

I'm in the middle of goosing around with one of these. Its a Chev civilian truck front end. See - its infectious thread - Robert Farmers truck.

Hi Tony,
So we are talking Chev MCP?
Just had a count and this one found earlier in the year has a 5 stud hub.
I will tick this one as solved unless I hear otherwise.
Thanks heaps
Rich

It is a fairly safe call saying Chev Rich
Now if you had a c8 you could use the majority of that front end for a rebuild
Nice find on the front ends

Yeah Rich, not sure about if they're called MCP. They are a chevy civilian pattern truck and you've got the right picture (the white truck). That axle would definitely be the same as the one on the white chev truck in the picture.

Incidentally, Ive got no brake shoes in my front axle. Is that one up for grabs? I could use the whole thing actually......

Default Chev......

Now I know why it looked so familiar..... I have a one ton 1940 Chev in the back lot.......

Got that truck as a lark just to compare the similarity with the 1940 C15a layout.... strange to see the same 4 speed tranny, same rad support, same E brake set up, same instrument panel..... frame is more similar to the HUP frame than CMP.

Hi Tony,
Pretty sure that the all of the font ends are up for sale, although it is about 8 hrs away for you. Will check on this over the next day or so, and PM you some contact details if you are still interested.
Bob, sounds like you need to spend more time reaquainting your self with your Back Lot....
Rich.

Default Axle`s

And what if I now say it is not a Chev front axle , Chev`s have the same feature like banjo front axle GMC`s two slots next to the brake cilinder for adjusting the brakes .
The bearing cap is round on a chev with little screws for holding the cap on . See the picture of the unrestored chev in this tread, it has this cap as wel .
Ford and Dodge had 5 stud wheels as wel.
